Description

Stainless Steel Loose Ring, Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel, Level 1

The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the centre applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates

Independent Side Movement™.
•Independent Side Movement™
•Stainless Steel mouthpiece
•Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
•Copper Inlay
•USEF Dressage Legal, 2019

Notes: The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the centre barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the centre of the tongue more than the MB 02. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.

The loose ring is a simple stainless steel "O" shape where both the bridle and mouthpiece have no fixed point of attachment but slide freely around the ring. The loose ring allows a lot of play as the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring.

Size: 3" ring

Action: Direct

Discipline: English or Western

Notes: The loose ring is generally considered one of the most non-interfering cheek pieces because the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring. However the play in the mouthpiece can make it difficult for a horse to find your hands as the mouthpiece is in continual motion. The movement of the mouthpiece can also exaggerate or create a busy mouth in young or anxious horses. It is best suited for more advanced horses fully schooled in leg and seat aids as well as rein aids

I was searching around for something that would make my very green 6yo 15.2 Han x more comfortable in the mouth, he was in a simple loose ring snaffle with a lozenge and although we got a bit of a contact it was inconsistent with head shaking and tenseness in between as well as him being unbalanced and reluctant to bend. My mum found the happy tongue bomber bit but it wasn't dressage legal so I looked for something else that was similar. I found the Myler Loose Ring Comfort Snaffle. I've been using it for the last week and the change in our work is amazing! He is now looking for the contact and happier to work with me rather than fighting. He's more balanced and much more flexible! I really recommend this bit, my mums even getting one for her new 5yo!

I was looking for a loose ring snaffle for my cob in sweet iron as my cob was leaning on my existing loose ring bit and knew I just had not got it quite right yet! He is only just rising 6 and still quite green but as he sometimes has more woah than go I wanted a nice bit with sensitive breaks! The MB02 is perfect as the sides are independant he does not lean on my hands and seems to be happier to hold himself plus I dont have any issues of him backing off from the bit if anything he likes a munch on it and looks for it. the sweet iron is not obvious and has little copper strips at the side and if your horse has a fleshy tongue and smallish mouth the shaped bit with the port is perfect no action hitting the roof of the mouth at all - What can I say both Mikey and I are really pleased!!

As soon as I first bitted and backed my youngster, he got his tongue over the bit, no matter how tight I made the cheekpieces, and was clearly not comfortable in a normal French link snaffle. I tried a couple of other bits with no visible improvement. I had bought a Myler Loose Ring Comfort Snaffle previously for his mother so tried him in that and, whilst he took a while to become completely comfortable in it, he never put his tongue over the bit and has now settled to a lovely soft contact. I think it is the combination of the arched arms and the multiple jointed effect which has produced this result and I would recommend the bit to anyone with a "mouthy" horse.
